Weird things JWs can't own or wear
by lilbluekitty inalso posted on the yuku forum.. i thought it might be amusing to make a list of things i remember when i was a dub that we couldn't have or own or wear.
(some of these things vary by where you live, in other places dubs have them, it just depends).
obviously the list goes on forever, but feel free to add things.

Good job they dont celebrate Christmas. It would be hell, trying to decide what to buy them.

When does God visit a person?
by mankkeli ini copied this from a friend's wall on facebook .
often times, god does not visit a man until his case has been declared humanly impossible, closed or dead.
when men say, it is over!

I tend to "unfriend" people who write stuff like that on Facebook
that made me laugh.

Power in a wedding ring?
by mankkeli inwhat sort of feeling if any is wrapped up in your ring?
have you ever almost lost it?.

Maybe this was a common custom, but I never heard of it when I was in the Borg:
leaving your wedding ring to someone close, (son, daughter, grandchild etc).
I love this idea of " immortality". Mrs Picard has her grandmothers wedding ring. It is VERY special to her.

Hello--new to the witnesses...and you
by LKM injust wanted to introduce myself.
i went to the kh for the first time 2 weeks ago...and will go again tomorrow.
i don't believe anything witnessy...(i was raised in the assembly of god church and now the closest thing i "do" with religion is yoga or sometimes the buddhist temple).... but the man i'm in love with is a df'd jw (we've been together for 6 years).... and he wants to get reinstated just to talk to his family again (i can assure you he does not believe it).... and he wants his family to accept me because we are about to get married... so, i'm going to meetings...its very interesting, but only because it shows me more about how he was raised.

Seafood.
Oysters and champaigne are always on the menu. Opening the oysters is one of my favourite traditions.
No one let me do it at first as I wasnt used to it and its easy to cut oneself.
All the menfolk go down to the cellar to open them ( we keep them in the cool). We drink several glasses of white wine and taste a few pf the oysters as we open them.
Thanks for posting the topic Paula. Thats put me in the Christmas spirit for the weekend.

No more JW window cleaners!
by shepherd ina window-cleaning robot that won a gold medal at the 2010 iena nuremberg international trade fair was launched in taiwan today.. the robot, named winbot, was invented by local inventor chao chih-mo and uses magnets that allow the device to be attached to both sides of windows up to 10 millimeters thick to clean both surfaces at the same time.
the invention is able to detect the cleaning area on its own using automatic navigation technology and infrared sensors, said the company.. .
the robot, which is priced at under nt$10,000 (us$330), can operate at least five times more quickly that human window cleaners.. that could put hundreds of thousands of jw's out of a job :d. .
